Grandmother charged with felony in child's accidental shooting
MILWAUKEE -- A grandmother is now charged with a felony after a 4-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the forehead.
It happened at 45th and Chambers Streets on the north side in March.
Smith was initially charged with leaving a loaded gun under a bed in her home, but now she has been charged with second degree recklessly endangering safety.
According to the complaint, Smith was holding on to the gun for someone else.
One of the children in the house, Keyontist Moffett, later found the gun in a shoebox underneath a bed, according to the complaint. While a group of children were playing with it, the gun accidentally went off and Moffett sustained a bullet wound to the forehead.
