LUFKIN, TX -- A mother and daughter from Glendale were killed in a car accident Tuesday in Texas.

Susan Holloway, 52, and Katrina Holloway, 19, were heading north on Highway 59 near College Drive in Lufkin when the car they were in crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler.

According to KETK in Texas, the truck began stopping for a traffic light about 100 yards away. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the car was so far underneath the trailer, it was pushed into the back seats.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the pair was heading back home from a trip.

Katrina was a graduate of Nicolet High School in Glendale.

"The entire Nicolet family extends our condolences to the Holloway family during this difficult time and our hearts go out to them," said Dr. Robert Kobylski, superintendent for the Nicolet School District, in a statement.

He said grief counselors will be available to assist students and staff who want to talk about the tragedy.
