WAUKESHA -- The 12-year-old girl stabbed 19 times by her classmates on May 30 is continuing to recover at home.

Her family released a statement and two new photos on Tuesday thanking supporters who have mailed in well wishes and donations for medical costs.

"We simply cannot put into words how grateful we are for the prayers, packages and heartfelt messages," the statement read. "Together as a family, we continue to adjust to our ‘new normal.’"

The statement said the young girl continues to deal with both the physical and emotional challenges since the attack, and that days consist of medical appointments and rehabilitation.

The family has asked that the girl's name not be revealed, but in the statement she said, “Thank you to the many caring people whom [I have] never even met but have been so kind.”

Supporters have also donated nearly $50,000 to help with medical bills.
