MILWAUKEE - General Mitchell International Airport is getting a much-needed update.

Governor Scott Walker announced the airport's general aviation apron will get an $800,000 renovation. Wendy Hottenstein, airport project manager with the state DOT, says the project will reconstruct the apron on the southwest side of the airport; the 25-year-old asphalt pavement will be replaced with concrete pavement.
The state will contribute $640,000, and Milwaukee County will be responsible for the remaining $160,000.
The project should wrap up this fall.
