All lanes now open after gas leak shuts down portion of highway in Washington County

TOWN OF TRENTON -- We Energies is responding to Highway 33 and Highway M in Washington County for a report of a natural gas leak. 

Construction crews working on Highway 33 were digging to put in a new sign when they hit a four inch natural gas line around 10:10 a.m. Wednesday.

Newburg Fire Department evacuated residents within a half mile of the scene.

Law enforcement reports all lanes of WIS 33 EB/WB are closed between County M and Trenton Road.

Crews are expected to be on scene for two hours.
