Former Waupun police officer pleads not guilty
BARRON, Wis. (AP) -- The former Waupun police officer arrested in a multi-county crime spree has pleaded not guilty to charges in Barron County.
Bradley Young entered his plea Wednesday to charges of fleeing from deputies and stealing a vehicle. The former lieutenant is also charged in Green Lake and Burnett counties where he's accused of multiple crimes, including burglary.
Reporter Media reports a plea hearing has been set Dec. 2 in Barron County.
Prosecutors say Young broke into a Berlin grocery store in June, a Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Markesan in July and a Town of Green Lake restaurant in August. He was arrested at a cabin in Burnett County following a manhunt.
After his arrest Young resigned from the Waupun Police Department, where he'd been an officer for 22 years.
