Former New Berlin Eisenhower High School teacher accused of stealing three laptops
NEW BERLIN -- A former New Berlin Eisenhower High School teacher is accused of stealing three laptops from classrooms.
According to a criminal complaint filed Monday, Amanda Rhyner, 27, of Milwaukee, was caught on surveillance cameras taking the laptops out of the school in October 2013.
Video showed Rhyner inside the school going in and out of several classrooms, and then leaving the school carrying a laptop bag and blue bin.
The incident came to light when the school district's IT department was notified by Dell for a change in ownership request on one of the laptops. The complaint further said that Dell security traced it to a Waukesha man who said he purchased the computer in September 2013 on Craigslist for $100.
Email correspondence between the two confirmed Rhyner had sold the computer to him.
Rhyner has been charged with four misdemeanor counts of theft, the complaint said.
