"We're a year away from the doors opening and servicing and helping the families be close to their loved ones who would be treated at the VA," said Dan Buttery, President of the Fisher House Wisconsin.

The Fisher House will be built on a hill, overlooking Lake Wheeler on the W.A. Grounds.  16 suites will be built in the home for families of veterans getting treatments at the hospital, much like Ronald McDonald houses.

"I've served in Iraq, and for me personally it's a way to give back to the community and to the fellow veterans," Buttery said.

The house is built solely with donations, and Fisher House Wisconsin is more than halfway to its $6 million dollar goal.

"Their family has sacrificed enough for our country and the least we can do as a community is to support them," Buttery said.

There will be a big celebration party Tuesday, June 3,  for the official groundbreaking.
