Family recovers dog stolen from paralyzed boy
MILWAUKEE - The service dog stolen two weeks ago from a paralyzed boy has been recovered, according to the child's mother.
Valetta Bradford said Shi-Shi was found Friday after one man tried to sell the pit bull to another on the street.
A spokesperson for animal control organization MADACC said Shi-Shi was turned in as a stray Friday morning. Workers immediately notified Bradford the dog was found.
Shi-Shi was taken from the family's yard in the 2300 block of N. 10th St. earlier this month. Family members searched the area for days, attaching flyers to light posts and trees in order to spread the word.
Bradford was training the dog to provide services to her paralyzed son, Xzavier. He was injured in 2010 by a distracted driver and is confined to a motorized wheelchair.
