MILWAUKEE - The rash of shootings this week have claimed two more victims.

The 44-year-old man shot during the robbery of a Family Dollar has died, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner. Bill Melendez, Jr. was shot Tuesday afternoon during the robbery attempt on W. Oklahoma. The Journal Sentinel reports Melendez was an employee of the store.

Another man, shot near a store on S. 19th the same day, has been declared brain dead.

"It appears that the victim was attempting to intervene in an attempted theft that occurred at a nearby store," according to Milwaukee Police.

The man was shot in the head, and taken to the hospital.
