Elementary school staff and students help out a displaced family
MILWAUKEE -- It's been a tough year for a Milwaukee family forced out of their condemned apartment building.
For the last few months the five of them have been living in a one room motel room. Nearly 3 months ago, the Andrews were forced out of their apartment when the balcony collapsed on the building.
Staff and students of Horace Mann Elementary wanted to help make this family's Christmas a little brighter. When they learned Lauren, Karma and Robin Jr. would not have any gifts under their tree, they decided to step in.
“The kids are happy, I am happy,” said Karen Andrews.
“And they will probably be up the rest of the night driving their dad nuts.”
