WAUKESHA - A Waukesha doctor charged with striking her estranged husband and leading police on a high speed chase made her first appearance in court Thursday afternoon.

Jan Doenier entered the courtroom shackled and wearing handcuffs.

It was nearly two weeks ago when prosecutors say the 49-year-old woman struck her husband in the driveway of their Delafield home they use to share.

They say she led officers on a dramatic chase. The confrontation ended after they used a stun gun on the doctor.

Her attorney Sydne French wouldn't talk about her clients mental state at the time of the incident.

"Until such time when I'm in a position to assess what the next move is, I'm not in a position to say much of anything." French said.

Doenier remains in the Waukesha County Jail. She is expected to return to court next week.
