Department of Revenue rolls out online auctions
MOUNT HOREB -- The Wisconsin Department of Revenue will begin a new program of auctioning off unclaimed property beginning this month.
DOR is partnering with Wisconsin Surplus to auction collector coins, US proof coin sets, collector cards, fine jewelry, and costume jewelry from unclaimed safe deposit boxes.
The auctions begin on June 9th and run through the 23rd.
People can bid on the items through Wisconsin Surplus, with auction number 14345. Wisconsin Surplus is used by a number of agencies and municipalities across the state for auctions.
"Unclaimed property auctions allow for bidding on unclaimed property items and the proceeds are deposited into individual unclaimed property accounts," said Department of Revenue Secretary Richard Chandler. "We encourage people to visit the auction online or in-person to see the many fascinating and unique items for sale."
For people who wish to attend the auction in person, it is held Monday through Firday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM at Wisconsin Surplus. The address is 202 West Front Street in Mount Horeb.
