NASCAR is investigating a deadly incident involving racecar drivers Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward.

Ward was hit and killed by Stewart's car after he walked onto the track during a race over the weekend.

Wyane Brevik, general manager at the Marshfield Motor Speedway, called it a "tragic event."

"My feelings are that it was a total accident and it's just an unfortunate thing to have happen," Brevik said.

Brevik also said that speedways across the nation will likely increase their safety policies to make sure that accidents like this do not happen again.

"It was a total accident and I wouldn't put the blame on the speedway," Brevik said. "I wouldn't put blame on Mr. Stewart or Mr. Ward."
