MILWAUKEE - Construction crews have the weekend off, but the orange barrels are still in place, which could cause serious backups on the highways.

Northbound I-43 in Ozaukee County is expected to be one of the busiest areas.

"One of the lanes is going to be restricted just north of Port Washington, just north of LL," said state Department of Transportation spokesman Michael Pyritz.

The DOT is monitoring traffic throughout the weekend and will notify drivers of any delays.

"We are using both the portable messaging boards and the large overhead boards," Pyritz said. "We're even alerting people as far south as Caledonia in Racine County."

Other construction areas include the Zoo Interchange and I-94 in Kenosha.

There's also work being done in Madison and in Green Bay.
