Milwaukee – A Milwaukee County employee, who confessed to stealing from a county cash register, will not face jail time.

Damond Watts, 38, of Milwaukee, confessed to stealing approximately  $1,000 from the register in December.

Instead of nine months in jail, a judge put Watts on one year probation.

"The only thing worse than stealing from the public, is stealing from a church or charity," said Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke. "People do not pay taxes to have a government employee skim from the till to line their own pockets. That he didn't get a single day in jail is incredible.”
