Controversy at the Rock
FRANKLIN-- The Rock Sports Complex is up and running, however a part of the land lies in Greendale resulting in some unhappy neighbors.
"It's almost like it's daylight out here, especially when they play on the corner field," said Greendale resident, Shawn Draginis.
The lights used on baseball fields are keeping residents awake, which is why the land in Greendale has not been approved for further improvements by its city officials.
The complex has replaced a landfill and Milwaukee County Supervisor Steve Taylor was asked to intervene in the disagreement between the operator and Greendale.
"How anybody could be against this type of development compared to a landfill and a dumping ground is really shocking to me," said Supervisor Taylor.
The Rocks operator has put about ten million dollars into the complex, and others hope to continue enjoying it.
"Playing on a field you always wished you could on - it's obviously a departure from the county field we used to play on," said Mike Brower, a Milwaukee man who was part of a league at the Rock.
"It's almost like a field of dreams by the way they have everything set up,' Brower said.
