Community mourns a mother lost to shooting
MILWAUKEE- It is just feet away from where Dricka Hodges was shot and killed that hundreds poured into the streets to remember the young mother.
"A senseless kill, she did nothing but care for her kids and have fun with them," says cousin Floyd Taylor.
Hodges is the latest innocent casualty of Milwaukee's street violence.
The 29 year old was on her way to visit her dying father when her life was taken during a shootout.
And even as prayers were sent up, the senseless crime outraged clergy. Some are asking the community - when is enough enough?
"If we stand together, if we stand together we can stop all of this. If we stay separated nothing is going to change," said Pastor Greg Louis.
Tears flowed as family and friends leaned on each other for support.
"Its family out here, you got to know you can really break up a happy home and really take a life of a happy person," said Willie Hinton, brother.
Hodges' leaves behind two beautiful little girls that now have to grow up without a mommy.
"All she kept saying was my mom is in heaven."
