Are recent cold temps a sign of an upcoming severe winter?
MILWAUKEE - Southeast Wisconsin suffered through a freeze warning overnight. We don't have to tell you how annoyingly cold it has quickly become.
It's a good opportunity to look ahead to the winter.
The good news on the cold day, the folks at the Old Farmer's Almanac say this may be a short lived winter.
"You're going to have a milder than average winter and not as much snow," said Mary-Anne Jarvela with the almanac.
But it may not seem that way at first.
"You're going to have snow for Christmas and there will be snowstorms on and off through December. But then January is going to be warm and mild and February's going to be pretty mild too," Jarvela added.
Across the country, the prediction is for a snowy winter, so we're the one spot that gets a reprieve.
The Old Farmer's Almanac claims to get the forecast right about 80 percent of the time.
