Cedarburg Great Pumpkin Regatta officially kicks off fall
CEDARBURG - Fall is slowly creeping into Southeast Wisconsin, and what better way to start than with the Great Pumpkin Regatta?
Four competitors raced across Cedar Creek in Cedarburg at the Wine and Harvest Festival over the weekend. Competitors spent hours carving out 500 pound pumpkins and turned them into watercrafts.
But steering them is just as hard as carving them.
"It's like a marble,” said Jim Slagle. “You paddle this way, you go this way. You paddle that way, you go this way. I go straight."
The fastest competitor to cross Cedar Creek and come back won a pumpkin topped trophy.
