Rude awakening: Car crashes into Glendale home
GLENDALE -- Laurie Newman set her alarm for 7 a.m., but something quite unexpected woke up the whole house an hour earlier.
A car rammed into Newman's home on Hemlock Road in Glendale on Tuesday, leaving a trail of tire marks, debris and big dent in the living room.
"You think you feel safe in your home, but sometimes you're not," quipped Newman, who spoke exclusively to TODAY'S TMJ4. "It sounded like the car revved its engine and then I heard the crash."
Police report a woman in her 30s drove the white sedan north on Green Bay Road when she hit a ditch on the right shoulder. The driver then spiraled out of control and rolled over a yard, a mailbox and into Newman and her boyfriend's home.
"It's pretty scary to say the least," Newman laments.
Officers credit a tree in the front yard from stopping the car short from ramming the front door. Miraculously, the car didn't break any windows and also missed three other cars in the driveway.
The driver was hurt and was not cited at the scene for any traffic violations.
