Caledonia man given ten days to move four-foot python
CALEDONIA - Imagine waking up to find a python on your porch. It happened in a Caledonia neighborhood and now the owner is scrambling to find his pet a new place to stay.
"Ragweeed" is a four-foot python, and is Cory Jacowski's pride and joy. But that's a problem in Caledonia, where Cory lives.
"I've been here for about 6 months and I just got the news Thursday that I have to get rid of my pet," explains Jacowski. "It was a shock."
That order came from Caledonia police, because not only is Ragweed illegal in the village, he's also a man on the move. Last week, the python got out of his cage and ended up on the neighbor's patio. Cory can understand how that might not sit well.
"Oh absolutely," he says. "I didn't always like snakes but now that I've owned a snake, my perspective has changed."
It's an expensive perspective. Police fined Cory nearly $400, and gave him ten days to get the snake somewhere else. Cory says he won't be far behind.
"At this point, eventually I'll probably be moving out of here, too, so I can get the snake back."
Cory still has five days to find the snake a new home. He says if anyone out there has a suggestion, he'll take it.
