Businesses in Milwaukee win big during NCAA Tournament weekend
MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Badgers scored a key victory over the weekend and so did Brew City.
Visitors flew in from Michigan, Oregon, Texas and Utah, among other places, and Milwaukee proved to be a gracious host.
Capacity crowds packed the BMO Harris Bradley Center, and they all needed places to eat, drink, sleep and keep busy before and after game-time.
VISIT Milwaukee estimated an overall economic impact of up to $5 million, including guests at 6,000 hotel rooms.
Even places like Discovery Center - a good walk and ride from hotels and the downtown district - welcomed up to 1,500 people each day of the tournament. That's about double the ticket sales from last weekend.
"We did see some jerseys - especially on the kids," Carrita Riddick, a manager at Discovery World, told TODAY'S TMJ4. "They seemed to show their spirit the loudest here."
