BURLINGTON- Residents of the Town of Burlington are hearing the train horn a lot more these days. After June 26, trains are required to blow their horns before every intersection.
People have reported hearing it often.
"At first it's really nice. But then, but when it's every day, 26 times a day, it gets to the point where you just want the quiet again," said resident Corina Ayala.
Plans are being made to improve safety features and re-establish the quiet zone, but the construction could take a year or more.
"It seems like it's always at the worst time, like during the night when you're sleeping," said resident Reid Finley
Burlington applied for a waiver to stop the train horns furling construction but they were denied.
The Federal railroad administration said that they notified the city in 2007 about needing to update their safety features by 2013.
