Burglars break down doors - and comfort zones - in Washington County

KEWASKUM -- Police are on the hunt Tuesday for someone officers suspect broke into at least one home and business.

It happened overnight Monday when the crook shattered a window and door in the 9300 block of Old Fond Du Lac Road in Kewaskum.

The noise woke the homeowner, and when he went to investigate the source of the sound he confronted a male suspect standing near the dining room table.

Deputies report the resident yelled at the suspect who then grabbed a purse off of the dining room table and fled on foot from the residence. The purse had cash and credit cards.

Investigators describe the burglar as male/white approximately 6’ tall, medium build, wearing lighter colored pants and a dark sweatshirt or jacket.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to lock and secure all doors, windows and garages. Deputies also urge homeowners to create any deterrents, like keeping yards and property well lit.
