Body recovered from Rock River in Janesville

JANESVILLE - A body was pulled from the Rock River in Janesville Friday evening, Janesville Police report.

Just before 5:00 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was fishing the Rock River west of the Monterey Dam and reported seeing pants and shoes in the river, and what he thought may be a body.

Upon checking the area, officers found a body about 20 feet from shore. The body is estimated to be that of a woman at least 60 years old. Her identity is not yet known.

Police say there were no signs of trauma to the body. An autopsy is pending.
