MILWAUKEE - Police are investigating the death of an infant on the city's north side.

The three-month-old girl was found dead early Sunday morning near 22nd and Locust. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says the infant died in a "co-sleeping environment."

From the Medical Examiner's report:

The mother of the 3-month-old child placed her in a "boppy pillow" on her bed Saturday night. The two of them slept there along with the mother's other daughter, a 23-month-old girl.

When the girls' father returned home from work just after 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning, he noticed that the baby was not breathing and called 911.

Life-saving measures were attempted by Milwaukee Police, but they were unable to revive the child. The investigation is ongoing.
