MILWAUKEE - It’s the first Friday in Lent.  So, what does it take to put on the biggest fish fry in southeast Wisconsin? It’s a yearly tradition.

The American Serb Memorial Hall has been serving up these fish fries for over four decades, and the crowds keep coming back.

The fish is fresh, lightly battered, and fried! Sheryl Ward first tasted this fish fry last February. And now, she’s back - all the way from North Carolina!

“The fish here is different from where I’m from,” explains Ward. “I’ve never tasted coleslaw like this. I certainly wanted to come back and experience it again.”

Milwaukee native Glen Bridgewater says he’s never eaten a fish fry here. He decided it was finally time.

“It’s been around here for years and it wouldn't be here for years if it wasn't good,” remarks Bridgewater.

Here at the American Serb Hall, they’ll serve 1,500 people today for lunch and dinner. That includes those who ate their meal in the hall as well as those got it to go through the drive-through.

Every customer has a certain way they like their fish.

“Well, this one I didn't do it on, but usually, when I squirt lemon juice on it, it tastes real good,” says customer Pamela Steuer.
