Sheriff Clarke warns drivers to be safe around motorcycles
MILWAUKEE - After a number of recent crashes involving motorcycles, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke is warning drivers to be on the lookout for bikes.
Thursday night, a 43-year-old man from Muskego had to be airlifted after he crashed in a roundabout on Racine Avenue at I-43. He was taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
A second motorcycle crash occurred in Elm Grove Thursday afternoon near Sunny Slope and Bluemound Road. A car and a motorcycle crashed into each other, but there is not yet any word on the exact cause.
Those crashes are just another reminder to be extra cautious on the roadways this Labor Day weekend. Sheriff Clarke said drivers need to be extra cautious at intersections.
In addition to all the Harley-Davidsons in Wisconsin, nearly 640,000 people are expected to travel on Wisconsin roadways over the busy Labor Day weekend.
