MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A building at the former Pabst Brewery site will become the new home of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's new School of Public Health.

UW-Milwaukee says it has a preliminary agreement to restore one of the buildings at the downtown Milwaukee site.

The project will create a 50,000-square-foot facility shared by UW-Milwaukee and other community partners, including the City of Milwaukee's health department.

Tom Luljak, vice chancellor of university relations, says the project would take about 18 months and construction could start in early 2011.

Part of the cost will be funded by a $10 million gift the university received from the late Milwaukee philanthropist Joseph Zilber.

UW-Milwaukee says no state bonding would be required in the initial financing of the new school.
