Barrett Out of Hand Surgery
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is out of surgery and recovering. This is the third time in recent months Barrett's gone under the knife.
A spokeswoman released a statement saying the procedure was intended to restore some flexibility in the mayor's right hand and that it, "went well". The mayor has admitted in previous interviews he may never recover full use of the hand or be able to make a complete fist.
The statement says Barrett will begin occupational therapy today and continue with several sessions per week. The mayor says he intends to be back to work at City Hall ASAP.
In the meantime Barrett will recover at home. He thanked supporters for their well wishes and prayers on his behalf.
Barrett was badly beaten last summer outside State Fair. He was trying to come to someones aid during what ended up being a domestic violence incident. His other injuries included a cut to the face and broken tooth.
