BAYSIDE - People are still talking about the meteor that lit up the skies over Wisconsin and the Midwest.

It was an impressive sight to see and if you missed it this is what the meteor looked like from a dashcam inside a Bayside police car.

Alec Preston saw it in real time. "It was white first and a tail kind of grew and then in turned bright green, said Preston. "I've been watching a lot of movies lately and I was like what could this possible be."

It was also captured on a dashcam from a sheriff's squad car in Portage, Wisconsin.

In Iowa, the meteor looked like a mid air explosion on another police car dashcam.

Preston was driving home Wednesday night on I-94 when he saw the spectacular light in the sky.

"It was big. It was pretty big, but it wasn't as massive like I saw on some of the videos where it lit up the entire sky."

When people driving west saw the bright light in the sky, they pulled over to watch.

"The initial thing, when you see something falling toward the earth you just might want to place it safe than sorry," said Preston.

In Grant County, on the far western side of the state, it looked like debris from the meteor caught fire on the ground and in some trees.

Believe it or not, in the last 150 years Wisconsin has been hit 12 times by meteorites. The closest hit was in Walworth County.
