Two Men in Serious Condition after Pulled From Silo

  • Print

MILWAUKEE - Two men are in serious condition Wednesday morning at Aurora St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee after events that started out as a fire and ended in a dramatic rescue.

One man was pulled from the bin on a rescue board and down a ladder. Another man was lifted out with a harness.

Neighbors watched as neighbors rescued Ron Williams, the owner of the farm, and employee Andy Kiefer.

Somehow the men had climbed into the grain bin after the fire was put out in an attempt to get corn loose.

Workers say the owner had gone to the top of the grain bin and was poking at the corn to get it to come out of the unit. That's when he was overcome by the smoke.
