Money Likely Embezzled From Oak Creek Football League
OAK CREEK - Officials with the Oak Creek Youth Football have reported a possible embezzlement.
Dan Sass, the league's president, became suspicious after noticing discrepancies on a treasury report: Dollar amounts were way off, so he started his own investigation.
"I went to the bank, and asked for transactions on all our accounts," Sass said.
He wouldn't specify what those statements revealed, but it was enough to make him contact Oak Creek police.
Chief Tom Bauer confirmed that an investigation into the football league is underway. A league source tells TODAY'S TMJ4 that as much as $75,000 may have been embezzled.
The league posted a statement on its Web site, alerting parents to a "possible improper use of funds by an OCYF officer."
More than 600 kids are registered to play youth football in Oak Creek. Their parents pay anywhere from $150 to $250 a season.
Sass says the embezzlement investigation will not affect their upcoming season.
