MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee County Sheriff's office is saying that most of the county's freeways have already been treated and are constantly being plowed.

That does not mean, however, that there aren't dangerous spots on the freeway system from the current snow.

A number of crashes have happened throughout the morning commute, making traffic times as long as three times the normal length of commute.

"The county crews were out doing their thing," said Sheriff's Sergeant Phil Wentzel. "There are still some slippery spots out there, especially the on-and-off ramps."

The department says it is telling drivers this morning that deputies are changing how they'll be handling accidents on the roads today during the snow.

Drivers who are involved in crashes on the freeway system that only involve property damage can report their information within 24 hours by going to:
•  The lobby of the Milwaukee County Jail - 949 N. 9th Street
•  Patrol Substation - 10190 Watertown Plank Road, Wauwatosa
•  Airport Substation - 5300 S. Howell Avenue(East of Int'l Arrival building)
•  The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Website  - "Report a Crash"

Officials say that they will tow all disabled vehicles from the freeway system.

They explain that they have to take that step so that to allow plows to safely remove snow.

If vehicles are disabled, authorities warm drivers to stay in their vehicles and get help by calling 911 from their cell phone.
