MILWAUKEE - Will Milwaukee see six more weeks of winter?  Not according to Wynter the Groundhog, Milwaukee's official groundhog.

Wynter predicts there will not be an additional six weeks of winter after not seeing her shadow at the Milwaukee County Zoo.

It was a beautiful winter wonderland at the Zoo, and maybe that's why Wynter went with the forecast that she did.

It could also be due to the snow falling and the sun being out.

Either way, the furry groundhog did not see her shadow.

"What do you think, guys?" said the host of the public event, which drew about 50 people to the Zoo.  "Does she see her shadow there?  I don't think so!  That's encouraging.  Despite what's coming down out of the sky today, I think winter's on the way out!"

It's the two-year-old groundhog's first official prediction.  The feisty critter scurried around her pen, and even played in the snow before heading back inside.

Among those who watched was Jane Reardon, who brought out one of her children.

"I've got a kindergartner, and she's learning about it, and she didn't quite understand the concept, so we came out to see it," said Reardon.  "It's great because it's a snowy day, and we're hoping for a quick spring."

"We're just spending the day together, coming to see if the groundhog comes out, see if we'll get an early spring," said Michael Kerr.

Jimmy the Groundhog in Sun Prairie, WI predicted the same thing as Wynter.
