Dump Truck Falls Through Ice
NEENAH, Wis. (AP) -- A man has died after the truck he was driving went through the ice on Lake Winnebago near Neenah.
The accident happened Tuesday morning. According to The Post-Crescent of Appleton, authorities say the man was working with a fishing club that was building a reef to create fish habitat and had been hauling boulders in a small dump truck.
Rescuers pulled his body from the water, but Lt. William Anthes of the Winnebago County sheriff's department says the victim was unresponsive despite efforts to revive him.
The 39-year-old Van Dyne man was flown by helicopter to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, where he was pronounced dead at 12:40 p.m., an hour after his arrival.
His name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
