Layer up, Milwaukee.  It's gonna be another cold one.

Wisconsin has one more day with sub-zero wind chills before a more standard set of early-December temperatures comes on the thermometer.

"We are in the minus-teens," said Storm Team 4Caster Craig Koplien, with wind chills expected to run between -5 and +5 this afternoon.

"Not quite as cold as yesterday, but I'm not sure you're going to know the difference.  It is going to be another one where you're really going to bundle up."

The one thing you'll notice as the sun comes up today - it's going to stay there all day, "allowing for a day that looks much nicer than it feels," explains Koplien.

"Today, winds are going to be down a little bit from where they were yesterday, and the actual temperature will be down a little bit, too, so the combination of those factors will lead to a slightly more tolerable day than yesterday, but I don't want to oversell that.  It is still going to be real cold."

Don't think it's going to stay this bad all winter, though.  Koplien promises that it will get better rather quickly.

"The big relief really kicks in tomorrow and on Sunday.  That's when wind chills will be well above zero.  The actual temperature tomorrow will be close to 30, and should be above 30 on Sunday, so we're going to snap out of it pretty quickly over the weekend."

It may not necessarily be typical that we get the highly frigid temperatures of this week before the calendar technically changes to winter, but Koplien explains how if a major snowstorm hits, a major drop in temperatures usually follows.

"It's not really that unusual for this time of the year after a snowstorm goes through.  Nine out of ten times, following a snowstorm, we get a big strong push of cold air out of Canada, and it usually comes with strong winds as well.  This isn't unusual.  It does happen frequently following snowstorms, whether it's in December or later on in the winter."
