20 Year Sentence for Elm Grove Home Invasion/Sex Assault
WAUKESHA - A man who pleaded guilty to breaking into a home in Elm Grove while a woman slept, then sexually assaulting her, has been sentenced.
Waukesha County Judge Mac Davis sentenced Roberto Ortiz to 20 years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision, while also being required to register as a sex offender.
The incident took place in a quiet neighborhood in Elm Grove in 2008.
Ortiz, 25, broke into the home of the 32-year-old woman, sexually assaulted her, and robbed her at knife-point.
The assault has deeply affected the victim, who now lives out of state.
Ortiz apologized in court to the victim and her family.
A prosecutor said that the sentence Ortiz faces is an "appropriate sentence."
