(AP) -- Police in Beloit say one person was killed and another was injured after a shooting and a car crash near an elementary school. Police Capt. William Tyler tells WISC-TV in Madison the incident started around 1 p.m. Tuesday on the city's East Side among a group of people standing on a corner. He says a suspect chased and shot at a person in a car, which crashed onto the grounds of Merrill Elementary School. Officers found a victim dead inside the car along with a second person who was injured. Tyler says the victim died from gunshot wounds. The school was in lockdown after the incident.
