Acker Ordered Back to JailBy Elizabeth Braun; Mick TreveyMILWAUKEE - The former West Allis swim coach who sexually assaulted teenage boys faces repercussions from a missed court appearance. Daniel Acker told a judge he was visiting a friend in Cocoa Beach, Florida instead of being in court last week. He did make it to his Monday appearance. Because of the missed court date, the judge ordered Acker back to jail, and added $20,000 to his bond. If Acker does get out, he won't be allowed to leave the state and he'll be forced to wear a GPS monitor. Acker is awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for January. Acker is a former West Allis/West Milwaukee swimming coach who pleaded guilty to sexual assault. Police have said Acker preyed on teenage boys. In court Monday morning, Acker said he did not visit any theme parks or other establishments designed for children. "I made sure I stayed away from all those places," he said. He also said he stayed with an adult friend and spent time on the beach and eating in restaurants. "I was walking on the beaches, I was playing, playing my guitar," he said. |
