Request To Move Scott Jensen Trial

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- An attorney for former Assembly Speaker Scott Jensen has asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court to move his second trial on misconduct charges to Waukesha County.

Jensen Attorney Robert Friebert said a law passed in 2007 requires trials involving election law violations to take place in the county where the defendant resides.

He told the justices during oral arguments Tuesday that Jensen's case falls in that category because he is accused of having Assembly aides do campaign work on state time.

But Dane County District Attorney Brian Blanchard said the 2007 law only relates to charges stemming from Government Accountability Board investigations. The law created the GAB, which enforces elections, ethics and lobbying laws.
