Milwaukee Child Care Worker Charged with Co-Sleeping Death
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A Milwaukee mother is charged in the death of her infant daughter, the third baby to die of co-sleeping with an adult in the woman's immediate family.
Rose Prescott was charged Tuesday with second-degree reckless homicide. An autopsy report says 6-day-old Ceianna Buchanan was suffocated while sleeping with an adult on a couch.
A criminal complaint says Prescott told investigators she was drunk and possibly fell asleep with her baby last March. Prescott's 2-month-old daughter, Brianna Buchanan-Prescott, died while sleeping with her mother in April 2008.
Another baby in Prescott's immediate family also died while co-sleeping with an adult. Ceianna and Brianna's 5-month-old half-sister, Cierra Buchanan, died while co-sleeping with Cierra's grandmother in 1993.
