1 Killed, 7 Injured in I-43 CrashesBy WTMJ News TeamOZAUKEE - One person is reported dead and seven others injured after a pair of crashes on I-43 northbound less than a mile from where the Wisconsin Department of Transportation closed the highway for emergency road repairs. The deceased was in a vehicle that crashed into and became pinned underneath a semi trailer just south of County Highway D. Five other people were injured. In a second crash, two people were hurt when their crashed on the Highway D ramp. "I-43 North is closed at Highway 100 due to a multiple vehicle accident," Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department spokesman Tim Nelson said in a news release. "We have no further details at this time, but further information will be released." Northbound traffic is now being diverted off the freeway onto County Highway LL at Highway 100. |
