Butler Police Reccomend Neglect Charges After Frantic Search for Girl's ParentsBy Charles BensonBUTLER - A bizarre story out of Waukesha County Sunday. A 5-year-old wanders into a stranger's yard - starting a frantic search. Police in Butler were handicapped in their search for the little girl's parents because she has a disability that prevented her from communicating her name and address. "I asked her where mommy was and she said she didn't' know where mommy was," said neighbor Tiffany Orvis. She can't imagine being separated from her children. She found the girl wandering next to her house around 4 o'clock and called 9-1-1. "We asked what her name was and she didn't know," said Orvis." We asked her how old she was, she didn't know." "There are going to be child neglect charges referred out to the District Attorney's office," said Butler Officer Chard Rahn. The little girl is not from Butler, she lives in Pewaukee with her mother. When we asked what happened, the mother didn't want to talk about it except to say her daughter was OK. "Seeing that I have two little one's myself, if I lost my daughter I'd be calling police within seconds if I couldn't find her," said Orvis. Police are investigating to see if alcohol was involved. Social services is looking into the situation.
