Uh oh...tying run at the plate?  Nope.  Tying run K's.

Cordero vs. Gerut
Can Cincy pull out the brooms?  After a full count, with rally-caps donned in the crowd...a walk!

A roller along 1st and Cordero puts that one out non-chalantly.

3:56 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Cordero vs. Escobar

Janish BARELY gets Escobar at 1st...no argument from Sedar....but I argue vehemently he got there.

3:54 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Cordero vs. Counsell
A 3-2 pitch turns into a walk.  Rally start?

Top 9th

3:50 p.m.  3 Out
Narveson vs. Phillips
Quick pop-up ends the inning...three runs with three outs to go?  C'mon, boys!

3:48 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Narveson vs. Votto
Anxiety and depression caused Votto to go through major issues this past offseason.  Good to see him back on his feet emotionally - though I'd rather have him go 0-5 today and go into a hitting funk.

As I type that, a liner to center for a hit.

3:48 p.m.  2 Out
Narveson vs. Janish
Braun tracks down a liner to left field.

3:45 p.m.  1 Out
Narveson vs. Stubbs
Another K, but it's not getting much reaction with a three-run deficit forcing hands behind people's pants.

Bottom 8th

3:40 p.m.  3 Out
Burton vs. Rivera

What next for Milwaukee?  Hope with four outs to play with?  Nope.  K swinging.

3:38 p.m.  2 Out
Cincinnati 8, Milwaukee 5
Lehr vs. Cameron
A launchpad shot to left cuts into the lead...at last!

3:37 p.m.  2 Out
Lehr vs. McGehee
The 5 guy in the order goes K as well.  FRUSTRATING....

3:34 p.m.  1 Out
Lehr vs. Fielder
He'll keep going vs. the 4-5-6 for Milwaukee,  The 4 goes swinging K on an up-and-in fastball.

Top 8th

3:32 p.m.  3 Out
Narveson vs. Lehr
Much more routine for McGehee.

3:31 p.m  2 Out
Narveson vs. Tatum
McGehee looks like a crab scrambling for a low grounder before getting up and firing a rocket shot to 1st.

3:27 p.m.  1 Out
Narveson vs. Gomes
Miller Park is quieter than solitary confinement chambers, for what I understand.  Thankfully not from experience.

Narvy gets a big swing and a miss on high cheese.  Is that blue cheese or gouda?

Bottom 7th

3:24 p.m.  3 Out
Lehr vs. Braun
The '08 MVP candidate chops to short.  Another boring inning.

3:23 p.m.  2 Out
Lehr vs. Gerut
A shallow right pop-up which wastes another at bat.  Yeesh.

3:22 p.m   1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Lehr vs. Lopez
Extra's on a liner to the right-center field wall.  Rally caps, boys!

3:21 p.m.  1 Out
Lehr vs. Escobar
A bunt single attempt and Escobar barely was thrown out...Lehr had to take it.

Top 7th Inning

3:18 p.m.  3 Out
Narveson vs. Balentien
Escobar with the 35,000th putout today at short.

3:16 p.m.  2 Out
Narveson vs. Rolen
A MUCH needed K.

3:14 p.m.  1 Out
Narveson vs. Phillips
This is REALLY getting depressing...hang on - Escobar caught a liner right at the apex of his leap.  MAJOR hang time.

3:11 p.m.
Cincinnati 8, Milwaukee 4
Narveson vs. Votto
Oh do we need help - the power in the order about to come up.  REALLY need help after that bomb that's outta here.

Bottom 6th Inning

3:08 p.m.  3 Out
Lehr vs. Catalanotto
C'mon, Frankie Can O'Tomatoes!  (Hope he's a fan of the nickname.)  Didn't work - a superb liner, but right at Votto.

3:06 p.m.  2 Out
Lehr vs. Rivera
Ugh, another swingandamiss K and Miller Park sounds like a morgue.

3:04 p.m.  1 Out
Lehr vs. Cameron
A shot down the left field line and it hit the roof, called out of play.  Never knew Cameron had out-of-the-park power.  He didn't when it counted on 0-2...whiff.

The Chorizo earns the crown today.  Hmmmm.  I think I'll have Mexican food tonight.  Suggestions?

Top 6th Inning

3:01 p.m.  3 Out
DiFelice vs. Janish
The Brewer killer that time finally K's.

2:58 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Cincinnati 7, Milwaukee 4
DiFelice vs. Stubbs
No damage this time around?  Not this time.  Up the middle and this thing gets worse.  Ugh.

2:55 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
DiFelice vs. Lehr
Can DiFelice finally get under control?  This out, yes...a sacrifice bunt.  Gomes at 2nd.

2:54 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 1st
DiFelice vs. Tatum
Ueck giving praise to Reds beat writer Hal McCoy who is retiring this year.  Kudos to him for all he's done for baseball - a Hall of Famer.

A fly to center for Cammy.  At last.

2:53 p.m.  Runner on 1st
DiFelice vs. Gomes
Another base hit...geez.  Five runs and another base hit to add to it vs. just one out.  Reds are hot, Brewers arms colder than Antarctica.

Bottom 5th Inning

2:51 p.m.  3 Out
Lehr vs. McGehee
First pitch liner right to Janish at short.  This offense has ground to a halt.

2:49 p.m.  2 Out
Lehr vs. Fielder
How much do we need something from Princey now?  Big time.  He sent a fly ball 9,000 feet high, but not deep enough.

2:46 p.m.  1 Out
Lehr vs. Braun
Now, some work to do against a pitcher they've done nothing against for three innings.  Not this time..Votto snags a foul.

Top 5th Inning

2:44 p.m.  3 Out
DiFelice vs. Balentien
Pop-up - where was this five batters ago?

2:43 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Cincinnati 6, Milwaukee 4
DiFelice vs. Rolen
A single up the gut punches Milwaukee in the gut.

2:38 p.m.  2 Out, Runners on 2nd and 3rd
Milwaukee 4, Cincinnati 4
DiFelice vs. Phillips
A liner to right and this time, it IS a tie game.

2:37 p.m.  2 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Bush vs. Votto
Intentional walk before Macha's intentional walk to get Bushie OUT of this game.  DiFelice comes in.

2:35 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Milwaukee 4, Cincinnati 3
Bush vs. Janish
Long bomb...off the wall...at least not a tie game.

2:33 p.m.  2 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Bush vs. Stubbs
A liner to right center makes it a bit scary.  Uh oh.

2:30 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Bush vs. Lehr
The pitcher vs. pitcher matchup goes 3-2 before foul ball fest continues, then finally, a walk.

Tropical twist...good choice!

2:27 p.m.  2 Out
Bush vs. Tatum
Here in the 620WTMJ newsroom, Jodi Becker explains she has four different kinds of gum in her purse.  Which would you chew??  Mint, cinnamon, bubble gum or tropical twist?

While we select our choice from the queen of gum (mine - orange, pineapple, kiwi twist), Tatum flies out to 2nd.

2:26 p.m.   1 Out
Bush vs. Gomes
Ueck back on the mike...and it's more easy flies to center for Cammy.

Bottom 4th Inning

2:24 p.m.  3 Out
Lehr vs. Gerut
More warning track power.  And the Brew Crew is supposed to be a home run squad?

2:23 p.m.  2 Out
Lehr vs. Lopez
Ugh.  Strike three called.  It's like feast or famine sometimes with this team.

2:20 p.m.  1 Out
Lehr vs. Escobar
Though Escobar is the nine batter, it's just like having two speedsters back-to-back as 1-2 instead of 9-1 in the order.  That's where it helps in building big innings.

Ah, warning track power for Escobar.

Top 4th Inning

2:15 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. Balentien
Full count before payoff pitch becomes pop-up and Braun calls off Escobar.

2:14 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Bush vs. Rolen
Escobar is busy today.  Another grounder.

2:12 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Bush vs. Phillips
Man, seeing the word Cincinnati makes me think of Skyline Chili...and Bill Michaels' daughter is having Skyline for their wedding reception.  AWESOME!  :)

Escobar takes the grounder at short.

2:08 p.m.  Runner on 2nd
Milwaukee 4, Cincinnati 1
Bush vs. Votto
I love how Cory says he "yanks one foul."  How do you "yank a bat?"  It's like his elbow would come out of socket if he tried to do that.

Full count time and Gerut takes a ball off the wall.  Votto is a Brewer killer.

2:06 p.m.  Runner on 2nd
Bush vs. Janish
Producer Armen blew the no-hitter!  A double, right as Armen mentioned he had a no-no going!

Bottom 3rd Inning

2:03 p.m.  3 Out
Lehr vs. Bush
The Brew Crew starter goes 0-2 before a strike three called unceremoniously ends the inning.

2:02 p.m.  2 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Lehr vs. Rivera
A direct, up the chute base hit to center.  That one bisected the field perfectly.  Thanks, Mr. Basham (at Marquette High)!

2:00 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Lehr vs. Cameron
0-2 for Cammy before a strike three call on a knee-high fastball.

1:58 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 1st
Lehr vs. McGehee
A launchpad shot foul to left, then Balentien backpedals to make the catch in right.

1:56 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Lehr vs. Fielder
The bomber goes 3-2 against Lehr and makes it 4-2.  Nice.

Top 3rd Inning

1:52 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. Stubbs
Braun backpedals and takes the 350-foot fly at a 370-foot wall.  No problema.

1:51 p.m.  2 Out
Bush vs. Lehr
An 89 mph fastball ends his at-bat.

1:48 p.m.  1 Out
Bush vs. Tatum
A soft liner to left and Ryan Braun makes a great running grab.

1:46 p.m.
Report: Brewers Extra Innings Host Dan O'Donnell says that Fox Sports says that Trevor Hoffman has been claimed on waivers.
Sounds like the old telephone whisper game, but this one seems VERY legit.

Bottom 2nd Inning

1:45 p.m.  3 Out
Lehr vs. Braun
Braun barely misses beating out a grounder at 2nd.  He's not Weeks, but decent speed.

1:42 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Lehr vs. Gerut
LIne drive snagged by Votto.  A foot to Votto's left and it's a 5-0 game.

1:40 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Lehr vs. Lopez
3-2, then the foul-fest begins before Lopez bombs one to the warning track in center...OFF THE WALL!  (Great Jacko album, by the way.)

1:38 p.m.  1 Out
Lehr vs. Escobar
A comebacker ends that at-bat rather unspectacularly.

Top 2nd Inning

1:34 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. Gomes
A swingandamiss on 0-2 and after some fouls..swingandamiss K.

1:34 p.m.  2 Out
Bush vs. Balentien
Escobar's 2nd putot happens on a broken batter that nearly flies right above Bushie's head.  Scary.

1:30 p.m.  1 Out
Bush vs. Rolen
This guy is hot - 6-12 for the series - and he's always been a Brewer killer.  Bushie works to 1-2 before Rolen fouls 3,917 pitches off.  Escobar finally takes it for an easy grounder.

Bottom 1st Inning

1:27 p.m.   3 Out
Lehr vs. Bush
The pitcher in the eight slot...again, Macha going LaRussa today.  Phillips easily takes Bushie's grounder.

1:26 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Lehr vs. Rivera
As the crowd continues to buzz from the onslaught, Rivera flies to left.

1:25 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Milwaukee 4, Cincinnati 0
Lehr vs. Cameron
Cameron sent a 397-foot shot to center at the 400 foot sign.  McGehee seemed to limp around the bases.

1:23 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 1st
Lehr vs. McGehee
A low and inside pitch produces a walk...Lehr is not exactly Bob Gibson today.

1:21 p.m.  1 Out
Milwaukee 3, Cincinnati 0
Lehr vs. Fielder
"Fielder to right and deep!  Get up, get up, get outta here...GONE for Fielder!"  Love Ueck's calls.

1:18 p.m.  1 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Lehr vs. Braun
As "Braun's babes" watch the game today from the Harley Deck (or what looks like it off the TV feed), he smashes one to left field for a hit.

1:17 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 1st
Lehr vs. Gerut
Four straight pitches become a walk.  Nice.

1:15 p.m.  1 Out
Lehr vs. Lopez
The alliterative first matchup of the game (I always knew Mr. Quillin's English class at Marquette High would help me somewhere in life) between a former Brewers and a newbie turns into a flyout to left.

Top 1st Inning

1:13 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. Phillips
Brandon sends it to right..."Jody Gerut in cruise control," Ueck says.

1:11 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Bush vs. Votto
My fellow pasesan (whom I'm not a fan of today) struck out swinging on a 2-2 pitch - Bushie's first in a LONG time.

Twitter: @haudricourt
"Because Brewers are 15-25 in day games, Ken Macha ordered mandatory team stretch today at 11:30. Let's just say the troops weren't happy."

1:09 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 1st
Bush vs. Janish
Producer Armen predicts a win today...we know how right he's historically been.  (J.J. Hardy, har, har.)

On a 3-1 count, Janish gets a free pass.

1:06 p.m.  1 Out
Bush vs. Stubbs
Not former Brewer Franklin Stubbs, but Drew Stubbs.  With the Brew Crew wearing white (for some reason, they have a stinky record in those cool-looking navy uni's), Bush induces a semi-deep fly to Gerut in right.

Pregame

12:56 p.m.
Milwaukee's starters in the batting order:
1) 2B Felipe Lopez
2) RF Jody Gerut
3) LF Ryan Braun
4) 1B Prince Fielder
5) 3B Casey McGehee
6) CF Mike Cameron
7) C Mike Rivera
8) P Dave Bush
9) SS Alcides Escobar

12:28 p.m.
Dave Bush, last year's awesome "businessman's special" specialist who brought a lot of wins on our blog days, returns to the mound against the Reds as they try to salvage one against the extra-inning experts from Ohio.
