Two of three suspects involved in a shooting and robbery of a man less than a block from Marquette University have been arrested.

The robbery and shooting happened shortly after midnight Tuesday Morning near the corner of North 16th Street and West Kilbourn Avenue, less than a block from the Marquette campus.

Milwaukee police say the three suspects tried to rob a 25-year-old man from Milwaukee as he was walking near the corner.

As the robbery happened, one of the suspects shot the victim. The man's relative disarmed the suspect, and the injured victim tried shooting at the suspects.

A Marquette student administered first aid until paramedics came to treat the victim. He went to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

The relative reached Marquette Public Safety, who then found and detained two of the three suspects until Milwaukee Police came on the scene.

Neither the suspects nor the victim are Marquette students. Police are still investigating the incident.
