MILWAUKEE - It was a violent rape and Friday a man learned he'll spend the next four decades in prison.
Olusegun Omole, 29, walked into the courtroom smiling as his victim sat in tears.
He's convicted of going into the 19-year-old University of Wisconsin Milwaukee student's off-campus apartment. She woke up and found the man on her bed. He threatened to kill her, then sexually assaulted her.
In court Thursday, the victim's roommate spoke for her friend and demanded justice. "Seeing one of my closest friends, someone that would be there for us whenever we needed it, when we needed it most, do anything to brighten up the cloudiest day, go through such a nightmare leaves me speechless."
Then it was Omole's turn. He didn't apologize. He didn't even acknowledge the crime.
"Father, thank you for my cross and again be glorified in the son, so the son will be glorified in you. It is finished," Omole said.
The judge said it was clear Omole didn't grasp the severity of the crime.
Omole smiled as he was sentenced, even grinning as he left to spend the next 41 years in prison.
