Young Heart Defect Patient Joins All-Star Game Festivities
A girl from near Sheboygan who underwent open heart surgery will be part of the pregame festivities in tonight's All-Star Game.
Natalie Meiselwitz is an All-Star essay writer from Cleveland, Wisconsin, and a girl who endured a heart defect.
She gets to join Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, Trevor Hoffman and President Obama in tonight's pregame festivities in St. Louis.
Meiselwitz, who's nine, won a Major League Baseball "Breaking the Barriers" essay contest about how she found courage and strength from those she loved to help her get through her surgery.
She goes on the field tonight for a special ceremony before the President tosses the first pitch. She also got to see Prince Fielder win the Home Run Derby live.
Natalie told the Sheboygan Press that it's going to be "really weird, but yet awesome."
