MILWAUKEE -- Big improvements are on the way for South Shore Beach in Bay View.

On Wednesday, Miller-Coors announced a $500,000 donation to help support improvements to the beach. The funds will help clean up the beach and improve water quality.

"South Shore Beach is at the cusp of a transformation," said John Dargle with Milwaukee County Parks. "As you know, it's been ranked as one of 'top 10 worst beaches in America.' And as you can imagine, this designation, we're not proud of it. But we're committed to change that."

Improvements will also include migratory bird management and a beach health and water quality educational kiosk.

The project is expected to take five years.
